TOOTH COLORED FILLINGS

Tooth-Colored Fillings

Any patient who has ever experienced older fillings made of mixed metals is delighted with the improvement offered by tooth-colored fillings. These durable fillings are made of a mixture of glass and resin and are often referred to as “composite” fillings.

Those older metal fillings darkened with age, eventually detracting from a person’s smile. Tooth-colored, composite fillings actually resist staining and so keep a patient’s smile white and bright. This composite material is so strong, it can last just as long or longer than metal fillings.

Another major advantage to tooth-colored fillings is that the composite material bonds tightly to the tissues of a tooth. This means that less drilling needs to be done to complete one of these fillings. With metal fillings, a larger opening needed to be drilled in a tooth so the metal filling would be enclosed by tooth tissue. When using composite filling material, we only need to remove the exact amount of tooth tissue that is decayed. That means a faster visit and less possibility of discomfort for you.

We can also color composite resin to exactly match the color of your natural teeth.
These tooth-colored fillings are a great improvement over older methods.
